The African continent is said to be a very rich continent with enormous natural resources. We are told we have 30% of the world's known mineral reserves.
At the same time, Africa is said to be one of the poorest, if not the poorest continent in the world. Our people live in abject poverty; our towns are ramshackled, poor infrastructure; it is a nightmare to travel in some parts of the continent. People die from poor living.
How can we explain this? And what can Africans do about this? Should we remain the poorest continent? Do you have some ideas? Are Africans interested in African affairs? Do Africans care about Africa enough to want to see it develop? Are we Africans concerned that Africa is as it is? Africans seem generally lukewarm about the future of Africa. It looks like many people are more interested in what concerns their country alone. Africa has 1.3 billion people in 54 countries but when a discussion on African affairs is going on like this one, you see very few people involved. Can it be concluded that the lack of concern by Africans for the welfare of Africa is one of the main reasons for the poor development of the continent? We Africans seem to have a mentality of working more against one another than for one another. We lack a spirit of togetherness; a spirit of ones; unity. Also we do not seem aware of our reality. We do not seem to know that we deserve more than we have; that our resources are being exploited for the benefit of other people while we wallow and die in misery; and we don't believe in fellow Africans. We will believe in some idea if it comes from someone of a different color but when it comes from a fellow African, we despise it. These are issues that Africans are discussing on AFRICA MINDSET REVOLUTION forum. What is your take?
